ALICE Run 3 Analysis Resources

Aim of this page

This page is thought as an "entry point" for people who want to start to analyze Run 3 data, no matter their level of expertise. We (the junior reps, together with Physics coordination) are trying to keep this page up to date with the latest resources related to Run 3 analyses.

The first part of this website contains some links to help with the build of the O2 Physics software, as well as an introduction to the use of Git and GitHub and some general information related to the Data Preparation Group (DPG) in ALICE.

The last portion of the page contains a list of useful resources: the first ones concern O2/Hyperloop/grid Mattermost channels, the second one instead contains PWG-specific mailing lists (to which you can write to ask any question/concern you might have) as well as Mattermost channels (for the PWGs which have one)

Getting started with analysis in ALICE?

Want to know how to build the ALICE software, or how to write an analysis task:

For Instructions for using GIT:

Want to learn more about our datasets, the Alice DPG has an excellent TWiki page:

Want to learn more about the latest status of data reconstruction, MC productions and calibrations:

The main support channels for O2 and Run 3 analyses are on Mattermost (https://mattermost.web.cern.ch/login). Here is a (growing) list with the main Mattermost channels where you can find different information

O2/Hyperloop/grid support & resources
O2 Analysis Mattermost channel: https://mattermost.web.cern.ch/alice/channels/o2-analysis  (General channel where you can ask experts O2-related questions)
O2 Analysis announcement Mattermost channel: https://mattermost.web.cern.ch/alice/channels/o2-analysis-announcements (Channel where new information/updates concerning O2 Physics are posted)
O2 tutorial Mattermost channel: https://mattermost.web.cern.ch/alice/channels/o2-analysis-tutorial (To chat with other fellow participants to the O2 tutorials)
O2 Hyperloop operation Mattermost channel: https://mattermost.web.cern.ch/alice/channels/o2-hyperloop-operation (To request and discuss about Hyperloop operations)
jAlien Mattermost channel: https://mattermost.web.cern.ch/alice/channels/jalien (To discuss about operating on grid (tokens and so on))
O2 Mattermost channel: https://mattermost.web.cern.ch/alice/channels/o2 (To develop code in O2 and not O2 Physics)
